Why Bother
This event is run by gay promoters in a super straight establishment that could care less about the LGBT community. These people run 3 places all straight every other night of the week. All horrible. All they do is pick a location hire a DJ and advertise. There is ABSOLUTELY no creativity involved. They play horrible pop music that anyone can hear on the radio at any time and they have awful drag queens who are rude. The whole atmosphere is snobby. It's a generally young crowd who have never been out to a REAL event. To be quite honest if youre into loud radio play and twinks this may be your cup of tea but litterally that's all you get. Occasionally they have someone from Ru Pauls drag race come in or they'll have special DJ's but when they do they jack up[ the cost of entry. It is definitely not worth going to. It's kind of embarrassing really that this is the best Boston can do. Save your $$ (the drinks are over the top expensive) and have a fun weekend in NYC or Montreal or even Providence RI at this point (they have a god awful night there too these dudes) But underbar, House of blues, and Thursdays at Glamlife (Estate) are the bottom of the barrel as far as gay nights go and to top it off your money is going to 2 or 3 (not sure exactly how many but just a few) gay guys and the straight European nightclub owners. Dang yo, you arent even stimulating our economy!
Pretty Awesome!
So it's been 1/2 a year since I've been to this place. I'm assuming not much has changed, and hopefully not because this place was awesome the last time I went. If you like House of Blues on Sat., then you'll love this because it has the same energy/vibe/types of people as HoB but with less patrons since it's smaller (still a lot for a Sunday, though!). I remember the music being fantastic! They played Scheisse by Lady Gaga! Automatic thumbs up! No cover before 10:00 I think, $10 after. Gets pretty packed after 11:30. I don't understand the lack of/poor reviews on here. Maybe I went the day before a holiday? Don't remember being so. W/e, go!
Sunday fun!
Nice place to go, good decor and friendly staff. Fun eye candy too. Playful describes here, can be cruisy especially Sunday before Monday holiday! Alot of shadows and dark as well as light space.....(so use your imagination)!!! Rob the bartender is phenom!!!! Way better than House of Blues!!!!
UnderBar: Oh, is THAT what it's called this week?!
First of all, if you go to the UnderBar website, you won't even see the tiniest SUGGESTION of anything gay. They don't even mention being OPEN on Sunday nights. Are we supposed to supposed to spend our money there once a week, and hush up about being their dirty little Sunday Secret? It's the club in the closet! I like a gay bar where I can know the staff, and pop in any time, not be shunned for not being on the Thursday guest list or the Saturday guest list, each held by a separate promoter, depending on the night. Yuk.
