In its 14th year, the Spirit of Justice Award Dinner is GLAD’s flagship event attracting 1,000 attendees from the Greater Boston area and beyond.
The Spirit of Justice Award recognizes individuals whose work and achievements reflect a profound dedication to our ideal of a just society. This year, on the tenth anniversary of the landmark Goodridge decision, Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall was enthusiastically selected for her life-long commitment to justice – as evidenced by her fight against apartheid, her belief in civil rights for all people, and her dedication to the rule of law. It was an historic decision to rule that gays and lesbians in Massachusetts should be treated as equal citizens. It shifted the national dialogue and re-energized the LGBT equality movement.
