Join HBGC for a night of visual artwork and spoken word performances focussed on the lives and experiences of transgender people*, particularly transgender people of color, to advocate for the passing of Massachusetts House Bill 1577-which would ensure the protection of transgender people in public spaces here in Massachusetts!
The art that will be featured at the event will be largely produced & curated by transgender* people of color in order to use art as a storytelling platform to inform others about WHY we need public accommodations protections for transgender people here in Massachusetts. Currently in the state of Massachusetts it is LEGAL for transgender people to be discriminated against in a number of public places such as parks, movie theaters, and restaurants simply because of their gender identity-the purpose of this event is to raise awareness to this injustice and the HB 1577 which is currently being debated in the Massachusetts State House in order to protect everyone. We are proud to partner with the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition in putting this event together.
Come get ArtPolitical! and join us. This event is open to everyone regardless of race, age, gender identity/expression, etc and will also feature resources and more information about how you can get involved with the fight to pass HB 1577. Come build community & learn through art.
