What a Treat
This place was recommended by the bartender at the Eagle. It is an incredible collection. I was amazed at the number of famous artists and famous paintings. The Rembrandt self portrait was a special treat!
Excellent museum - very worth seeing
The Gardner Museum has remained essentially unchanged since its founder's death in 1924. The three floors of galleries surround a garden courtyard blooming with life in all seasons. The museum was once the home of Isabella Stewart Gardner a wealthy patron of the arts who collected art from around the world and displays it beautifully in what was once her home in Boston's Fen way neighborhood. You can park next door at the Museum of Fine Arts parking lot and walk the two blocks to the museum. It is one of my favorite museums in Boston.
