Decent dance venue any night of the week

It's a pretty fun place to hang out, dance, or whatever takes your fancy. And I give it credit for still being pretty busy on a Monday night. But there's nothing particularly amazing about it. And a cover? On a Monday? Really? Still, a good time with the right crowd.

Machine/Ramrod local's perspective.

This bar used to own Friday dance nights but the management and lame DJs have ground it into the ground. It is currently in last gasp mode. Ramrod upstairs used to draw a sketchy (in the best way) crowd to its mid lit and monitored back room for the dirtiest safe grope and make-out scene Boston could offer. Again, management has canned most of the bartenders with loyal followings and have mandated the serving of the weakest drinks in any Boston gay bar. It tells, crowd has dropped way off. Friday is the only night to go, if at all.

Reliable fun.

The crowd is cute, mixed ages and all types. Especially Friday and Saturday! (Friday is the better)! Ramrod upstairs is good for some surprisingly dirty fun. Monday nights with the drag show and hot tunes is a must see. Other nights are ok. Definately a reliable stable bar year round.

I love the Machine! Yes it's a gay bar with TWO bars in one space (RamRod is upstairs) and the Machine on the lower level. Cover is needed to get into Machine on Friday and Saturday nights. (abt. $10) The Machine is good on Friday nights. It's generally packed that night. Filled to the gills with hot men and boys of all types. It has a pool room, and a dance room that has several bars areas. I never had to wait long for a drink either. The coat check is fine, the lines go fast. Big clean bathrooms that are all unisex. The music has never failed to disappoint. Its a fun and friendly crowd that is free and open. The lights and laser shows are dreamy and take you away to the freeked up place you want to be. It is here one can let go, be free, and dance the night away.

Out of towner

My friend and I (who is straight) are from out of town. Richmond, to be exact, and we liked the place. The staff at the door were very nice! The bartenders were pretty cool, and everyone treated my friend and I (plus my boyfriend) like we were all welcome!
