Windowless and mediocre as a space. Nice location in Government Center, although the parking should be free if the bar owner does indeed own the parking garage. Coming here is rarely worth a $7 parking cover for those who drive. (And if you delay in exiting after paying the fee, you will be charged much more at the gate.) ... Strong drinks, funny bartenders. Attracts mostly friendly people who know a lot about each other. Lots of regulars. On a good night (i.e. Fridays around 6 p.m.), the crowd runs the entire gamut of attractiveness, with some of the hottest guys in town thrown in. Many are friendly. On a bad night, which is too often, you will be disappointed unless you are a regular. It's about as friendly as New England gay bars get, which compared with other places is just sort of friendly.

The sniff test...

So I have not yet gone to The Alley but after reading the reviews I noticed people either love the place or don't. It seems I am more inclined to gravitate towards places like this. Recently moved back to Boston and am sniffing it out. Once I have given this place three visits I will write another review...

I'll Pass

o.k. I have been to the Alley a few times before writing this review. Let's see how to start this. I find the people that go to the Alley quite strange and scary.. It's not the cleanest bar around and the workers/bartendars are nasty. We have rocking Joey that is friendly but not the best looking guy (which he acts like he is hot!!! NOT!!! I don't know who the other bartendars name is there on Friday night but he never smiles and he has a lousy personality.. I avoid him at all cost.. I believe that both of these bartendars are there on Saturday night as well so you can't escape them what so ever. The drinks are strong but one of the bartendars doesn't even know how to make a good mixed drink. I find myself going to other gay bars that are cleaner and the bartendars are hot and know how to make a drink and make you feel welcomed. The alley is a hole in the wall and is very hard to find.. My advice if you want a sleezy place go there. If not try other bars it will be worth the trip.. Peace!!!!
